Can your existing tattoo be covered?
A successful tattoo cover-up depends on the size, darkness, color, age and placement of the existing tattoo, as well as the condition of the skin and the open space around it. Every case is different. Before recommending a design, the artist needs clear photographs and an honest understanding of what you want to change.
Cover-up work usually requires a new composition that is larger or visually stronger than the original tattoo. Dark areas cannot simply be hidden with light pigment. Instead, the artist uses structure, contrast, texture and carefully positioned darker elements to redirect attention and integrate the old tattoo into a new design.

What to send for an assessment
- One close, sharp photograph of the existing tattoo in natural light.
- One wider photograph showing the tattoo’s position on the body.
- Approximate height and width in centimetres.
- When the tattoo was completed and whether it has been treated or reworked.
- Subjects, styles and colors you are open to for the new design.
- Your preferred consultation or appointment dates.
Avoid filters, heavy editing or photographs taken at an angle. Accurate images help the artist understand the pigment and available space before arranging an in-person review.

Will the old tattoo disappear completely?
No result should be guaranteed before assessment. The goal is to integrate and visually redirect the existing work, but outcomes depend on the pigment, skin, design and healing.
Does a cover-up need to be larger?
Often, yes. Additional space gives the artist more freedom to create a natural composition and position darker elements effectively. The required scale varies by case.
Can color cover black ink?
Light colors generally cannot conceal dark pigment by themselves. The artist may use darker values, texture and contrast as part of a broader composition.
Can you rework a tattoo instead of covering it?
Sometimes. A rework may improve lines, contrast or composition while keeping part of the original tattoo. Send photos so the artist can compare the available options.
Can tourists arrange a cover-up in Saigon?
